Tristan, Thanks for taking the time to sit down with us and giving us “The Inside Line”. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Tristan Falls and I’m 13 yrs. old. I have one older brother named Zach and I live in McKinney, TX. I have a KX 85 and a I just got a Supermini for Christmas. I have been racing in the 85cc 12-15 class and the 85cc Open and Supermini classes.
Wow, It sounds like Santa really hooked you up this year. How long have you been riding and what made you get into Motocross?
I’ve only been racing about 2 1/2 years now. I didn’t get started racing until I was 10 years old. My older brother’s Mom was Miss Arenacross so I always got to go to all of the races with them and I have loved it ever since.
Do you do any kind of training or anything special to prepare for the races?
I have been training with Zach Jaynes at least once a week at his personal track. We do lots of ovals and circles, lots of body positioning , just lots of everything. We usually just go ride at one of my favorite tracks on the weekends.
Some guys have certain rituals or special things that they do before the gate drops. Do you have anything special that you do?
I will not eat before I race, just not gonna do it. I won’t eat anything until after my first motos are over. I also like to practice starts before I get to pre-staging and my Dad has to have my bike PERFECTLY clean, he is insane about it.
That’s what Dad’s are for right? What are some of your past accomplishments and what do you have planned for 2013?
I did pretty good when I was on 65′s. In 2011, I got 2nd overall in the 65cc 10-11 class of the Full Moon Series and I got 3rd overall in the District 41 series. Last year when I moved up to the 85′s, I was the 85cc 12-15 Champion for District 41 and I got a couple of second place finishes at the State Finals. Next year I hope I can make it to Loretta’s.
It sounds like you’ve been pretty busy lately. Since Supercross just started, I’ve got to ask, who is your favorite rider?
I really like Ryan Dungey because he is humble and has a great attitude.
Having a great attitude will definitely help you in the future. Even though you’ve only been racing for a couple of years, do you know how far you’d like to go in this sport?
Of course I’d like to make it to the National Pro level. I want to be racing on TV and eventually, I want to train other kids and maybe start my own race team.
We would love to see you make it to the Pro level one day. Everyone knows that it takes a lot of help to get there in this sport. Who helps you with your bike maintenance and getting you to the races?
Marty Painter at MotoMods and my Dad help keep my bikes running and my Mom and Dad make sure I get to the races.
What are some other activities you like to do outside of motocross?
I like to ride my BMX bike and hang out with my friends. We go to Top Golf and sometimes we go to Pole Position and race the go carts.
