I just wanted to throw out a couple of dates for Dixon MX's final two races of their winter season. February 21-22 is the last race of their six-race winter series and then March 28-29 will be a non-points race. In their first season of racing, the attendance has grown from about 185 to about 250 entries, so word has been getting out. I don't think they have had to run any heats yet, but there are several motos with almost-full gates!
You can check out their website at http://www.dxnmx.com/index.php.
The soil at Dixon is epic! It ruts up like crazy and the track gets rougher as the day progresses. The Saturday practice at last month's race ended up with multiple ruts in the corners (and I am not exagerating when I say more than 4 or 5) and the back straightaway had straight ruts down its entire length, even running up the face of the big double back there. A lot of the corners have different options and the sweeper headed to the finish line has a flat outside or the inside line has 4 singles. You need to come see what I am talking about. For this part of the country, it is the best soil we have ever raced on.
The Dixons are also committed to making significant changes to the track every other race in order to keep the layout from getting stale. So, the current layout will be changed after the February race. When their track is not running, they are out racing somewhere. I know that several racers got to meet them at last month's Midland race.
Anyway, there doesn't seem to be any area race schedule conflicts for their February race so come check out the track. I would be shocked if you left unhappy...
