When I returned to motocross I bought the Alpinestars Tech 10`s since I previously had worn the Tech 8`s back in 2003.... People have various opinions but I believe that the Tech 10's aren't that great. The buckles do not stay buckled, the bootie is not near as comfortable as the one from the Tech 8`s.... and the soles are rather soft in my opinion. Im not talking down on Alpinestars whatsoever, I just dislike the Tech 10 - but I would buy a set of Tech 8's today if I had the cash and would be thrilled!

When I get a new set of boots I am going to return to the Tech 8's most likely.... However all I hear is about how good the Gearne SG12`s are.... I'd like to try those out as well...

One of the magazines did a boot test as I recall the Sidi boot was first and garne second and alpine stars were third or tied for second, The claimed the sidi had no break in time. I have owned the garnne sg10 and alpine stars tech 8. The both are great boots but I liked the Garne better they seem to last longer and you dont have to deal with the booties. I didnt really care for the booty but thats just my opinion. I am going to try the sidi next. Their is a new Italian boot out Jett they dont look bad. But its all personal preffrence.

Definitely personal preference, Tracy refuses to wear anything but Sidis. He says you take them out of the box and go riding, absolutely no break in time. They also are not quite as bulky as some of the other brands.

On my third pair of SIDI's. Once you get a pair, you won't wear anything else.

i googled 661 and gearne , i found a lot that had went to both gearne's and 661, from A-stars and others, but none that had changed from either of those. A-star soles last lilspanky about 6-8 months, looking for somthing that will last a lil longer.
if i get him gearne, it will be the sg10's not 12's i do believe in good protection, but i dont think it has to come in a $600 boot.
    you like it rough?

The SG12 is the absolute best boot on the market. You pay a lot but you get what you pay for.
