I raced in Austin only once in '77. I don't remember a river, I think it was just called Austin MX. There is a video made from 8mm footage. You can see it by clicking on "My videos" in my signature.

I just uploaded a bunch more photos to my website. Click on the "Other" gallery. To anyone visiting the site please leave a comment if you recognize any of the riders and specify the picture number and I'll add it to the caption. Here is a good one, B. Pickard, I think.

I rode the old track by the river. Nothing like being on it when the river was up and covering the back straightaway. That hill in the middle was rough, either way we ran it. And so was the first turn.

I'm not sure that's Kidd? Here's another pic of him on the 409 Husky. I took this at Whitney, sometimes aroung 74 or 75 I think?

Sorry about the quality. In the 70's I could barley afford to race, much less buy a decent camera!

Ricky "Reamer" Kidd rode Huskys out of John Long's shop for quite some time. first time I saw Ricky was at Whitney, back in 73'. he had a pair of YZ Yamahas. other stuff he rode included Bultacos (74', maybe into 75'), I think he was on the orange tank Penton/KTM machines for a short time, too (76'?). toward the end (79'-80') he rode mostly open class, not too much 250's. he might have even been on a 440 Maico Magnum for a bit, around that time. seems like John Kimbrell had everyone on a Maico at one point or another. mostly it was Husqvarnas, though.

Sorry, I forgot I even posted here. Yes that hill was tough. You could sit on the side of the hill and feel the ground shake every time somebody went by.. I loved watching the pro races there. There was a guy named Roger Brown that would race moto after moto on all different brands of bikes and would kill it!Anybody remember him??

Thanks for the video. I raced that Austin MX track many times in the 70's. I enjoyed doing my races in the morning and then sitting on the hill and watching the Pro's in the afternoon. Those were the days.
