"akiller" your dad was a local hero of mine back in the late 60's. When I just started racing I use to watch him at Cloverfield and latter the 610 night races. He was a "Checkers or wreckers guy" ALL OUT all of the time. I got to visit with him at the parts counter where he worked around 1993.
Allie, your dad was the best. He was very diversified in his skills and was good at twisting the throttle no matter what the discipline. He was always smiling and would light up a room just by walking in. Much like Lynn Nickerson, everyone was a friend to him as he was their friend as well. The stories are true and your dad, Robbie Holbert is a great man.
Great pics!! Great memories!!! thanks!!!
finally getting on here and Yes I remember you!!! I had some great times with Don and his family!!
Howdy allie!
I know all of your family and met you when you were new to the world. I was a great friend of your dads. Or shall I say was lucky to call him a friend. I could talk all day about your dad and your mom. But I will do one story for now. When I really first met Robbie. Late 70 or so. I was at the 610 loop track for a race night and my Mini-Enduro was acting up. I was parked a few cars down from Robbie. I knew of him and idolized him already. He heard the bike running bad and my dad and I trying to get it right. He came over and introduced himself. Looked at the bike and did some stuff and we were ready to race that night. For some reason, he took a liking to me and we began a long friendship. Please tell your Mom and Andrea that Bill and Diane say HI!

I think this pic was from a track in League City in 72 it didn't stay open long. Though I could be wrong. Mike Thomas
I was fortunate to know and learn from him. I was on his teams at Champion Cycle, City Plumbing, All-Star MX'ers. On all teams we met in the pits and walked the track together. I was a 100 novice guy and made sure I was in his group. He could tell us how the track would change as the day went on and he was SO right. I love the man.
