And yes a damaged hot start o-ring could cause the lean condition you speek of, but not in this case you have stated that it will speed up when activated.

I sprayed carb cleaner through it 2 or 3 times and blew compressed air through it and I could see light through it. It's just weird that I have to turn the idle up that much when the weather is cold. Once the bike is hot and have turned the idle down to about 1750 I can kill the bike and it will fire right back up on the first kick. I could go home right now with the temps we are having right now I would only have to have the idle up about 1 1/4 turns. I replaced all the o-rings except the one on the hot start, but if the bike is running and you pull it in the bike revs up. I throughly inspected the boot that connects carb to head and no cracks at all. I even put a new fuel screw in to make sure that was not the issue. Thank you guys for your help I will be a happy camper if I can get this firgured out.

Here is something to throw in that I tried I came home today with the idle screw @ 1 1/2 turns up the bike started on the first kick. I let the bike warm up then turned it down to idle around 1680rpm. When I would pull the hot start it did not make much difference. When the idle is higher you can hear a little more difference does that sound like the o-ring is starting to go? Do you know anywhere I can buy that type of o-ring without having to buy the hot start cable that cable is about 30 bucks. I hate to spend that much for a o-ring.

    Hater,
Sunday morning I went out and the bike took quite a while to get started. I loaded up and went to Underground it started fairly easy there because the weather was warming up. I turned the idle down to normal idling and the bike started up up between 1-3 kicks throughout my day of riding. Does it sound like a jetting issue on my bike?

yes and just depends on how your bike reacts to it. I used a 45 part of the year and a 42 when it was really hot
