    Default Broke collar bone

So last Sunday I broke my collar bone @ Underground, I never have groved with that track but that is not my point. How long before I should ride? Dr. said 6 week but that seems like a long time. Any info people who have been down this road have would be alsome. It would be cool for yall to post any ideas or stuff yall have done to heal a bone brake faster? I'm taking Vitamin C, Lysine, Calcium, eating dark leafy foods to get Vitamin K and apples for boron to help Calcium absorption. I know it's a lot but I want to cut this down time down as much as I can.

When I was a kid I had a friend whose dad raced MX with one arm. One opton is to just nut up like that guy and go riding this weekend!

Obviously I am joking about you going riding, but I really did have a friend whose dad was an amputee. His last name was Rhodes, and he had one good arm and one prosthetic arm that attached to the bars with a hook. He raced in Oklahoma in the 80s.

i'm just getting over the same thing, i broke mine five weeks ago.

it was a clean break, but its still hurting a bit. the doc said 5-8 weeks for a full recovery.

i used a bone stimulator (no seriously) that i had from when i broke my neck.

Don't take calcium supplements, it will go straight to the break and heal it but it will be brittle. Replace your calcium supplements with liquid magnesium, it will heal stronger, and get your calcium from food sources. Per Bob Wharton, not me!

HAHA! I'm not laughing at your injuries, just the part about the "bone stimulator." Where are JMT and Hater on that one?

Anyway, hope you get well soon, Racingfortheson.

only thing with having a plate put in, is if you break it again.....its going to break closer to one of the ends.

and that is much more difficult to come back from.

it helps the bone fuse back together quicker.

is it better than waiting for it to happen naturally.....i don't know.

not really sure, mine was delivered by a "medical professional".

i think they're quite expensive, but insurance covered mine.

I had a full break in mine after a lap 2 crash River Valley in October, I'm just getting back on the bike again tomorrow hopefully. Without a plate it can take a long time to heal completely. If you rush it and fall over in a rut then.....snap! Start Over.
