Just a quick question......if a kid places 1st in the first moto and dnf's in the second, does that automatically give them a last place due to the dnf?

No, in most cases he would be scored by placement in both moto's and the two added up. This would yeild a number equal to the number of riders in the moto plus one.
Example....10 riders....1st in first moto & DNF in second moto would yield 11 points. He could have a overall finish as high as 5th or as low as 10th depending on how the other riders finished in each moto.

You don't stop riding because you get old...You get old because you stop riding!
If you get your bike across the finish, you will get last place points, if you don't attempt to do so, it could be taken that you just quit that race... In that case I think that track side scores you as 44th or so.
you like it rough?

Throttle was stuck after going down on last lap. This was in the 65cc 7-9 class today. There were 7 riders. My son got a 1st and then the dnf so was awarded 7th. I was just checking so we would know in the future. Thanks for the responses.
it depends on the rules. I know that at some tracks they would have given him 7th in the moto and scored it just like a normal finish. As another example, we are heading up to race the Oklahoma Championship Series next month and so I just read their 2012 rulebook. Here is their policy on scoring DNF/DNS:DNS - DID NOT STARTA rider not coming to the starting line and completing one (1) full lap willreceive a DNS. They will receive a moto score equal to 10 positions plus the total number of riders enteredin that class.
DNF - DID NOT FINISH.Riders will receive a DNF if they start the race, but do not take the checkeredflag. They will receive a moto score equal to 5 positions plus the number of riders entered in that class.
