Alright the 3rd Annual Race to Benefit Cancer Research went off as a GIGANTIC SUCCESS this past weekend. Lots of work went into getting this event ready by several dedicated people to the sport and the out come was over the top, off the hook. Thanks to David and Liz Lux for offering up their facility again to host an event of this magnitude. Thanks to the many people and sponsors that supported the event with gifts, items, money and everything that was donated to make this the success that it was.
Most of all THANKS to all the riders/racers families, friends and spectators that came out and gave their time and money to support the event.
The total race entries was 311. This is the largest turnout in the history of River Valley Mx races. There were 574 people that came thru the gates on Sunday to show support for the cause.
There were some serious battles going on in every one of the classes. The Pro classes were off the hook. 60 total pro entries for the day between the 250 class and the 450 class. With $10,000 dollars on the line it was certain there were going to be some epic battles for a pay check in the Pro class and there indeed was.
I have done a small summary of the day on the River Valley Mx website with many photos I took out there. Visit the River Valley website and click on the
RACE PHOTOS button to check it out.
Thanks to Shand Garcia for announcing the event, James Gorman for finish line flagging, LT Lynn Thorne and Jacque Morgan for running the gates, Jessica and Kelly for setting a new and much higher standard for 30 second girls at a race. Thanks to Amber Parks and the girls in the tower that made the scoring a success. Thanks to the Shriners group and Looney Js for all the great food and snow cones at the track. Thanks to Don Bisceglia, Sean Martin, David Lux Aviery Hickey and I guess myself for the excellent track work done from the controls of the equipment. Thanks to the crew that signed everyone in starting at 6:30 in the morning. Thanks to all the flagging staff that spent hours out in the sun making sure the racers were safe and thank you to the EMT crew that help those riders that went down. Most of all thanks to everyone that came out and supported the cause to help find a cure for a desease that has effected the lives of many people in the past, currently and will in the future.
This event is getting bigger and bigger every year and this year the bar was set high.
