    Default Observations on Torcs

Okay, I hope I am not posting this in the wrong spot but I guess "moto" could fall into this category.

I just got home and watched the Torcs Off Road Truck race and felt compelled to post a few observations (this is my first time watching). And I'll have to admit that Stewart is what made me watch it in the first place. I had no idea that R. Johnson and others were racing this series.

I realize that I've been hard on announcers and it looks like this isn't going to change. What is up with that Greg Creamer guy? My first thought was that he was in a wheelchair and I felt bad for him and thought he'd been in a wreck. Then it suddenly dawned on me that he wasn't in a wheelchair but, in fact, morbidly obese! He just appeared to be sitting down because his gut was like a fold out tray on an airplane. WTF, man!! The name "Creamer" fits him but he might want to try a little low calorie non-dairy "Creamer" in the future. Can anyone say "major arterial blockage." He looks like he is going to have a massive coronary at any moment. They need to let him sit down and catch his breath before an interview- looks like John Gruden after 20 years on Ding-Dongs, Fudge and Cookie Dough Blizzards. You could walk up behind the guy, grab his sides and say "BOO!!" and he would die on the spot.

I realize that last paragraph was intolerant and offensive and, as you all know, I don't roll like that. However, you guys/gals ride so I am assuming you all are in pretty good shape as moto is a very physical sport. I could be in better shape but take the time and effort to stay in my proper weight range and eat right because I wanna be able to ride and do other things. As a kid I used to ride my YZ 80 on the trails at Boykin Springs- we'd do about 50-70 miles a day. This was back before the government shut it all down because of a bird than clear cut it two years later. I remember being sore for days afterward and I was young.

    I'm digressing...........

Some of you pointed out that "racial" things were being written about Stewart. I disagreed and still disagree and believed that anything racial was brought upon Stewie by himself (like the Tiger Woods comparison). That seems to be more the case than ever after Stewart's attempt at the "Lil Wayne" crossed-capped look in the pre-race interview. He looked like a crack dealer or a pimp. If he wants to avoid racial stereotyping why does he try so hard to look the part of a stereotypical gangsta? I'm not saying he should put on overalls and say "YASSA, BOSS!!" anytime a white announcer interviews him but c'mon. That is ridiculous.

This is, as has been pointed out by others much wiser than I, a stepping stone to being the first "African American" NASCAR driver. It's an enjoyable sport but I still like the physical ability that it takes to ride two 30 minute+two lap motos in our sport of choice. I think Stewart is wasting his talents here- he is a great moto rider when he is not taking out others and acting like an idiot.

Like James or not, it looks like he and his family were having a lot of fun... I think he got a little taste of humble pie. This video is a good example of how they should have produced Bubba's World... unscripted...

As for how he's wearing his hat, notice his hat through most of the video is normal... the last part it's the hood looking Redbull hat... I suspect that is a sponsor obligation rather than JS7 taste/attitude.

When one decides to wear one's hat off-camber or sideways, it looks very unprofessional. This guy is a very well paid professional athlete. If he was doing FMX, I could understand it....NOT for MOTO.

How funny the thing about hats came up. I made a post on Racerx just this Friday commenting on their Racerhead article about a picture with Ken Roczen. He was wearing his hat normal and respecatble and it just looked so different. It looked professional, showed respect to people that pay the bills and just made him look like a professional paid athlete of a sponsor. I wasn't going into the article looking for stuff like that. It just jumped out of the page and made him look so much more professional to the point it was almost weird to me. But in a good weird. To all the kids out there; I am telling you, people/sponsors notice these little things even if you don't think it matters. If I had two mostly equal riders in front of me wanting money and one was sporting scalped ears and a duckbill, and the other was wearing a professional looking formed cap, the latter is getting my money every day of the week. Now of course pure speed will usually trump all because of exposure, but most riders are fighting with other pretty much equal riders for sponsorships and the little things make a big difference.

whatever - moto is a gangster sport. only gangsters get recognized. moto kids are made to spit some flows, pull their pants down, and ride some laps for the hotties. it's all about the bling, the swagger, and the dimes. dime pieces and dime bags, that is. you know this.

I would guess all of the answers are obvious but I would love to really know how many of the bikes are jacked (based on the fact not a single person has gear-not race)

I have just never seen anything like this, and do not understand the mentality.

Just understand that they are better at riding wheelies than anyone on this board.

I wonder how many people in the Baltimore area watch those videos, and go "Hey, there's my bike!"

A lot. Ain't no way that one guy on the 2010 crf250 could afford it. Plus, I know in another video, at the end of it, one of them says something like "a hot bike goes from 500-800" or something like that.
