Default Racer X - Wyamn Priddy "The Father of Texas Motocross" mention

    Great Racer X read - http://www.racerxonline.com/2011/04/12/40-day-countdown-to-ama-motocross-opener-1972

This is one of the main reasons why Wyman Priddy will always be known as "The Father of Texas Motocross". Wyman was the man before any other TX motocross racer! If your not familiar with Wyman Priddy, he is Chapter 1 in the BERM - the Texas Motocross Chronicles book, grab a copy!

Wyman was the baddest Texan - before any others came along! Still considered by many as the 3rd-4th fastest Texan of all time.... 29 years after his passing away at the young age of 36, in 1982!

Yes Sir, great image... with a ton of action/drama surrounding the race.

That classic shot was taken by Tommy Gunter down at Dick Kleberg Park in Kingsville, TX (commonly referred to back then as Kingsville MX). Priddy and Steve Wise were the two big names racing a host of local Pro talent. The fans in attendance went nuts over the two stars! The crash happened on lap 5 of the 250 Pro class.... Wise was on Priddy's rear wheel. Priddy started bouncing through the whoops approaching the first jump, went off of the jump crossed-up, landed into a tank-slapper just as he hit the face of a second jump... into the crash. One broken rib, and cartilage damage. With Priddy out of contention, Wise won the 250 Pro motos and the Open Pro class motos.

Fortunately, I have the original photo of this
