    Default Springs ??

There are so many conflicting opinions out there about fork/shock springs that I was curious what the local suspensions guys depend on? Seems factory connection and RaceTech are about equally expensive but is there any niche companies that make something better ?

Cannon Racecraft in Oklahome City makes springs. JM uses them, I use them, Reynard uses them.... they have been making springs for 25 plus years. And they are cheaper and made in the USA

Eibach supplies Race Tech and Cannon makes a ton of springs, also. I would bet FC or any of the other tuners are using these same 2 sources for their springs...So, it's just a matter of picking the correct one !

    - Doesn't seem cannon (at least from their webpage) makes springs for the bike I'm working on.
    - I'm surprised to hear Racetech has an outside supplier for springs, because I've been reading their new suspension bible and was sure they said they manufactured their own springs
    - I've heard good things about Merge, but A) Unless there is some voodoo going on, there's not much black art to replacing a shock spring other than getting the spring rate correct (or close, and spring rate opinions are almost as bad as the oil debate), and B). the last time I let someone else work on my bike that was recommended on txmotocross, it came back in worse shape than it left, lol.

Cannon will make any spring that you want. huffster is correct. Eibach and Cannon produce almost all of the springs for Race Tech and Factory Connection.

    this is the place? http://www.cannonracecraft.com/

They definitely aren't any less expensive, though that doesn't really matter too much if the product is better. For argument's sake, are the springs direct from them any better than the springs they supply other companies?

Making a spring is not an easy task. It requires very expensive machinery and facilities to form the coils and keep them within production variances all while they are in different shapes, types and duty ratings. I'd say if you buy from Eibach, RT or Cannon, then you just need to PICK THE CORRECT spring for your weight...End of story !
