    Default 10+ round series?

I'm curious what does it take, and what stops it from happening here in Texas? I was talking not to long ago to a few guys up at I35 and they were telling me about the oklahoma state series and how its like 12 rounds at all different tracks and they had awesome contingencies and gave away a trailer. I got into moto only like a year and a half ago so fairly new to the scene. Why is it we dont have an awesome series like this here in Texas?

Since those tracks are willing to band together, lets just get them to do a series and call it the Texas Series......I mean I-35 did participate in the Texas Series, so I'm sure the others wouldn't mind. It might be closer than going to Houston or West Texas.

Haha. Not a chance in hell. Too many track owners who don't want to work with one another, lazy moto people who aren't willing to travel to race, and too many dates that would fall on eachother.

When I went to Florida this summer we went to Dade City MX, they host a year long 21 race series, all at the same track. Mind you, the track is changed every round... Track turned around, new layouts, new jumps, it's always something different. The numbers are huge, and the pro turnout and racing is some of the best I've seen at a "local race."

For real bro, that just sucks no 1 will work together to form something awesome. I wonder how many entries a texas series would pull per race if this were the line up

    rd 1. Cycle ranch
    rd 2. 3 palms
    rd 3. underground
    rd 4. pure mx
    rd 5. Freestone
    rd 6. buffalo creek
    rd 7. spring valley
    rd 8. oak hill
    rd 9. river valley
    rd 10. I35

I just listed them south to east to west to north get all of the long driving out of the way first

They wouldn't pull anymore entries than they pull for races now. I can't speak for others but there are reasons we don't race most of these tracks anymore and why we don't practice on them, adding tracks to a series won't change that. Throw half of them out and it would be a better series all the way around.

Yeah, you left out half the state. Not only west Texas, but Austin too. And there are tracks further south than Houston - like that kick-ass place in Beaumont. 7 of your 10 rounds are generally accepted as "north Texas" - you only added Spring Valley, 3 Palms, and Cycle Ranch.

The fact is, Texas is just too big with too many tracks. State series are successful in most other states because they are half our size with half our tracks. Less tracks means less date conflicts, less fighting over sponsors, etc. It will never happen. The ONLY thing that would ever be possible is split Texas into 3 regions (DFW/east, west Texas, and central/south) and hold a Championship.

Not to mention the HUGE headache of trying to coordinate promoters who dislike eachother and putting this thing together on nights and weekends (yes, we promoters have real jobs). Then, you have the issue of driving 6-10 hours on any given weekend. Would YOU drive 8 hours to Midland this weekend, then 5 hours to Houston next, then 5 hours to Cycle Ranch after that? Would you do that, knowing there is a local series in DFW where each track is 1 hour away?

KTMland - if you REALLY think this is possible and think people would love to do it, I sincerely urge you to try it. I'll even volunteer 211 Motocross as the first round. If you can pull this together, you can use my track and I won't charge you a dime. Cover the expenses and you can keep 100% of the profit. Hell, I'll even come help prep for free.

If you're thinking, "well, you're the promoter, that's your job," I understand. But you and I are the same. We both have full-time jobs, bills to pay, and lives to lead. The only difference is, I own some dirt hills in west Texas. You could do this just as easily as I and I encourage you to try it. What's holding you back? Let's do it!

This is a timely discussion, for years riders have wanted to see longer series with a variety of tracks involved and some legitamate payoff at the end. Some of the powers that be are happy with the way things are right now. But, as we speak plans are being made for a real State Championship. There are three districts in Texas, AMA district 41, 42 and 20 and the new AMA is willing to make it affordable for riders and promoters. The oppurtunity is on the table right now for a series in Texas that could include everyone and give the riders what they want .

Kas- the list above was really just a list of tracks i've been to that I though was big enough to handle a 500+ entry. I'm honestly just tryin to figure out what is holding back from making this happen. Me personally I want to see all of the local tracks succeed with huge rider turnouts as I think that is better for not only the track but the rider basically everyone is happy. And yes I agree with you with being a college student I completely understand not having the time to really go out and try to get somethin awesome together. But I'll say now I do have time to do some things and would love to get involved and help out.

This may be a little off topic but I feel like its something that needs to be said atleast from my point of view. I honestly feel like there is probably alot of ppl out there that are like I am that want to help out the moto scene but here's the problem and I'm just going to be blunt. Unless your fast some guys are pretty much dickheads to you, I just moved up to the novice class I wouldnt say I'm slow by any means but clearly not turning any heads at the track obviously no1 here I'm sure knows who I am. But what I do know is me a college kid spent over 10k dollars of my own money in motocross in 2010 and dont plan on slowing down. Anyways track owners if there is anything I can do to help lemme know and I'll do my part and do what I can.

And yes I do think its possible, the region thing sounds just as good to me. But from what I keep hearing its going to take some ppl swallowing some pride.
