Default ROUND #2 TEXAS GNC Fall Series. River Valley Mx. Lot of txmoto riders in here.

Alright like I said Round #2 was a 10 out of 10 score for the weekend. The track was perfectly prepped and watered for practice on Saturday. Practice went off with a bang and a whole lot of people showed up to ride and get ready for the race on Sunday. We did split the classes on the top of the hour for mini riders and then Big bike riders throughout the day. It was crazy when we had to turn the track back over to the big bike riders for the last 40 minites of each hour. It was like ants on a dead bug. Just for those that want to know we seriously considered splitting the big bike class into a "A" and "B" practice also because of the amount of bikes out there at one time but after surveying several riders the general concensis was just leave it alone everything seemed to be going just fine. It is pretty amazing to see that many riders on the track at one time and everyone is being respectful to eachother and you see very few crashes or riders going down. Hats off to the riders that come out to RV and respect the other guys and gals on the track.

Saturday night was the bomb. There were about 75 people that spent the night out there and camped over night. RV apologizes for the confussion on the over night camping situation. Aviery was unaware when he was signing people in in the morning that we were charging for camping on Saturday night because typically RV does not. It was agreed on for this series though that all the tracks charge for camping so the riders can not go on to the next round and say well at such and such track they didnt charge us to camp. That is why I came around and collected camping fees from everyone.
Sunday morning came along and the weather was as perfect as it gets for racing. Bryan Jackson started things off with his wonderful words of inspiration and a short prayer for protection to the riders and a good day of racing. Well the spectators definitely got their $10.00 bucks worth out of this day. There was some seriously good battles that went on in pretty much every class. Practice went well, riders meeting went well and well the computer picked a very wrong time to glitch on us so we appologize for the short delay in getting the actual races up and started. We did however make up for it during the day and clicked things off pretty quickly considering there were 23 classes that had to race.
I shot pictures the first set of motos and had a great time doing it. I usually do not get to actually see much of the racing action because I am focused on well,,,, focusing on the racing with the camera. I usually never look at the pictures until I get home and it is usually pretty interesting to see what goes on in those hole shots and during the races when you get to looking at the pictures. I was elected to announce the second set of motos and while my plans were to just watch the races what better place to watch them from then from up in the top of the tower. I actually had a blast announcing because I know a whole lot of the riders anyways so it is easy to give them big props from up there when they are on the track.

Hats off to the Golden Ruhl catering service for the great food the kicked out all weekend long. I know if you hit them up you were not disappointed with what you got to eat out there. They are hopefully a staple at RV races in the future because this husband and wife team rock from the food end.
Great job by all the RV staff from the flaggers, to the scoring girls, finish flagger James, gate operators Jacque and LT and everyone else that helps put together a successful event like this at River Valley Mx. Thanks again to David and Liz for opening up there playground for everyone to come out and have a fun weekend. Most of all thanks to all the riders that came out to race and the friends and family you brought to spectate. This is really what makes it happen and without you guys there would be nothing. River Valley Mx appreciates the partronage from the North Texas Motocross community.
Round #3 is coming up October 31, 2010 and is going to be held out at Pure Mx. This is the old Montalba Mx. I can assume that with rounds #1 and #2 being the great success they were that round #3 will play right into the system and be just as much fun so you wont want to miss it.
I took lots of pictures. I have made a button on the River Valley Mx website on the upper right hand corner under Latest News called RACE PHOTOS. I will be adding a few more pictures tonight and tomorrow night also. I have not received the Results for the race yet but as soon as I do I will post another button with the results. Also once I have them I will be able to add the rest of the names to the riders that I have put pictures out there of whos names I do not know.

Great race photos, I saw a Performance Factory two smoke infront of a Merge Racing 450, that is impressive.

That was a great race - probably race of the day.

That's the 2002 CR250 Performance Factory Holeshot Mag project bike that we featured in a "how to rebuild your old 2 stroke" project bike article, complete with Scotty Hanes's PF skills. Jef Odom wanted to race it, so he geared up and nailed the Holeshot. Led every lap, but did have a few instances of pressure from Greg and young speedster Payton Malugani. There were sections where Jef and the 2-stroke were quicker, and sections where Greg and his 450 were quicker. The two put on one hell of a race....and once again showed that a well equipped two stroke (even if almost 10 years old) can still get around a track pretty damn fast, and handle really well.
A must have for all Texas motocross fans!

Ya SG, I remember that article. I have the same bike so I really enjoyed all the rebuild information. Someday I would like to do something similiar to my 03 model. It is nice to see and hear the older model two strokes winning races. Nice CR!

Torkit - glad you like the article - hard to believe it's been 4 years already! Get yours done... it make a huge difference in those stockers.

AR616 - Jef totally blew the start. He was not paying attention to the actual gate. Greg and the rest of the guys were 10 feet out of the gate before he left it. Finished in 3rd I believe.
