I hadn't ridden or raced a 2-stroke since 2001, so it was a totally new deal for me racing against 450s. It was kinda funny how it all fell together. I got the bike on Thursday and spent 2 days getting it ready for the weekend. On Saturday after just a couple laps around the 3 Palms River track I felt totally comfortable. By the time the GP track opened I was back up to what I felt like was my usual race speed on a 450. The starts really weren't bad. Of 15+ 450s on the line I came out with 2 3rd place starts, really it should have been 2 holeshots but honestly the bike is worse than stock power-wise I think. The pipe is half crushed, the bike had really never been ridden in anger because it was owned by a trail rider. I gotta say it was a total blast, and I ended up winning the +25A after some good dicing.

The new junker in action, with the big ass MC-style #2. I didn't have time to get replacement numbers.

Shawn36, you went and won the +25a on an 2003 CR250 you just bought? Fricken awesome. Okay, I am going to sell my 2000 YZ250 and put all that money back into my 2003 CR250 and go race the dang thing. See y'all at the track.

At our level its the rider not the bike. Shawn 36 is no slouch on a bike, ive been watching him and his dad ride since Shawn was on a 125. My next race will be the Shock Sox race at Buffalo, from the sounds of it I wont be the only one on a 2-smoke in the vet class anymore. All you guys should come down and race with your smokers,will sound like old times.

I picked up a 2002 CR250 from Spanky a while ago. I have done a bunch of stuff to it since he dropped it off at the house. Should be a pretty fun bike when I am done. I do turn 25 here in about a month..... hahah

Good selection Redhead, I have that exact setup on my CR250 and it runs great! When you plan on spinning some laps on the smoker, saw you sunday at VC on the honda.

Its def got the power....Ive watched tapia and others smoke the 250f class on the smoker. I bought it so I could race lites with it.

In AMA Amateur racing, 250 smokers can race the lites class. AMA Pro Nationals and SX, not so much.

I will stop by and introduce myself next time I see you around. I'm #16 on CR250. Andy you know you love the smokers! I should have me a 450 in a couple weeks, guess I'm going to try these 4 strokes out.
