Dillon has done real well with this last session of therapy for learning. He will continue with counseling everyother week for the next 6-8 weeks. He doesn't really talk to us about what his memories are. He struggles with the loss of his sister and her memories. He also lost a very dear friend a couple of weeks ago and is struggling with that also. He is doing better since we have moved back closer to his friends. He does lots of peddling on his bicycle to see them, since we are further away than we used to be, but it is really getting him in shape and working on his endurance. I want to thank each of you for following Dillon through this recovery. It has been long and we still have a ways to go. Dillon will be home schooled for quite some time as his learning has to be modified quite a bit still and he really does better with focusing on one subject at a time. He is also studying motorcycle mechanics with a great friend of ours. This will go toward his high school degree and his career choice. That's all for now. Thanks for your support.

We had a wonderful time at Oakhill this past weekend with our mx family and friends. Dillon had lots of good times Saturday. Sunday he didn't feel too well and he missed all the races, but he did have a better afternoon. It was nice for him to meet some of the people that have been following his recovery. He is really liking learning moto mechanics with Jesse and being part of the team. We have therapy today, and that is going good for him as well. It has surely paid off with where he is in his recovery. Biology is the course for now for education. We have learned that one class at a time is best for him, so that is how we will do things. Thanks for the support and prayers! It definitely makes a difference!

Dillon is doing well in school. He is more than half way done with biology. He has written two papers that were a half page in length by himself. It takes him a while, but he is doing it! He finished his rehab yesterday at Centre for Neuro Skills. They have officially discharged him. He will follow up with one of the doctors at the Brain Health Center for additional educational therapies. We have... him off his blood pressure meds and have for a while, but he is going up and down with it, so now we are monitoring his bp and may have to start back with meds. Dillon had a wonderful time with us at River Valley this past weekend. He got to meet alot of people who have been in his life in the past and some that have followed his recovery since his accident. We keep on going and continue to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers. It has been a long journey which we continue on successfully. Love to all!

Good afternoon track momma,I got to meet your son last night at VC with his girlfriend Ashtyn(she is like my second daughter).
Anyway what a great kid, very polite and pleasant, only thing is I couldnt get him to eat anything we brought enough food for an army and he kept saying he wasnt hungry and his teeth hurt from the braces.I think either Ashtyn or my daughter finally talked him into a bag of chips or cookies or something though.

Excellent young man, doing very good IMO for what he went through.

Well next time we race and Ash and Blair come you guys should come to and you stay this time.

Just thought I would give you some words of encouragement.
I wont ride anything but the mighty Suzuki

Here is a link to an interview Dillon and I did for Channel 8 news. They were doing a segment on some of the therapy Dillon has had that really worked for him for reading.

It has been a while since I have posted. Dillon is doing well and has finished his second class for his freshman year. We had a scare right after Thanksgiving and saw some strange blood pressure issues with seizure activity. There are some slight changes in his personality and expressions that indicated a change in his recovery. There was a small bleed in the frontal lobe. He was having difficulty with remembering discussions afterward also. He seems to be back to improving and we try to monitor him without alarming him or aggitating him. Happy New Year and thank you all for your continued support!!

Just wanted to drop a note to let y'all know what is going on. Dillon was released to start racing his bicycle recently. Thanks and props go to JP at Cycle Gear for helping out with getting Dillon a new helmet. The bicycle helmets just aren't quite strong enough for his needs. Dillon has raced in 4 races locally. All are on youtube if you look for Dillon Terry. He is racing at Desoto and Ft. Worth on most weekends as long as he feels good. We had a rough couple of weeks between Thanksgiving and New Year's but things seem to be working out better for him, healthwise. As long as he is feeling good, we are letting him race his bike and do what is making him happy. I have caught alot of grief from people not understanding why we let him do this, but he has to have life and enjoy it. It isn't motocross, and he really misses that, but understands he can't race mx anymore. He is still looking forward to the day he can get back on a bike and make it around the track! Hope all is well with all of you! Thanks for the continued support!

Man, I just am so impressed with Dillon's continued recovery. I am proud of him, and proud of his family. You ALL are an awesome testimony to God's Glory. Blessings!

I've been tracking this and am thrilled to hear about Dillon's continued progress and the bicycle racing. Dillon and those who are most close to Dillon are the only ones that know what Dillon should and shouldn't being doing, period. Everyone of us should take advantage of our freedom to chase whatever passion we want to chase, and it sounds like Dillon is doing just that! We all need to enjoy everyday. Thanks so much for keeping people informed. And don't accept any grief. Keep Dillon as safe as possible, enjoy each other and have fun.

Just want to drop in and update everyone. Dillon went through extensive tests and we will meet with the doctors for the results next Friday. I received the 9 page letter with all the information, but can't make sense of it all. Dillon has been out of bmx recovering from a torn hamstring for the past two months. He should be back racing by the end of the month. This past Sunday we were at River Valley and he got to ride for the first time in 2 very long years. He did very well. He has the video up on you tube and his website at www.dillonterry.com If you have the time go check it out. The video is a little shaky due to my nervous hands and the wind...yes, lets blame it on the wind!! The first part is the actual first time on the bike. He then says a few words then goes into more riding from later in the day. He finishes the video with a great slo-mo on a small table top he was jumping. It was great and we can't thank Liz and David enough. Our next trip is to I-35. Not sure when, just need to talk with Amber and make sure she is there...Dillon's promise to her.
I thank all of you for the continued support. Dillon has come so far from when the doctors told us he probably wouldn't walk. Now he is going for the olympics!!! The only thing I do ask of you is please do not encourage him to race MX. The idea is wonderful and we would love for him to be able to do so, but there isn't a doctor that will release him to ride. (This is our decision). The risks for him are too great for racing. I am just so happy we can get him on the track for some laps and some fun. See you out on the dirt!!

I finally have the results of testing that Dillon went through. He was tested in many areas including being able to pick out important information in a story, unimportant information, application processing, and many more. Basically what the results show is that Dillon is on the "Average" level on picking out important factors of a story when read and allowed to study for 2 minutes; he is struggling with deep meaning of the underlying story; "Average" on following a conversation; below average on self awareness, behaviors and needs. He is superior on mechanical applications.
When I say "Average" "below average", etc. this is according to the range of tests including non injuried 15 year olds. The doctors told us he has a great foundation to build from for learning and cognitive applications from all the therapy. He has a lot to look forward to. They want to work with him to continue to build on strategies for continued success in school, as well as work with me on how to modify his school work appropriately. We will start this in September. All in all it was good. He has shown great progress from when he crashed. He still has some to go and will always have residual affects from the brain injury, but he is doing great. I am so proud of him!
