I hate using these forums for favors but I had to quit for over a year because of hospital bills at the begining of 2009 and I am trying to avoid the same scenario. Any help will be greatly appreciated. And thanks for all the get well soon phone calls! My racing family is definatly my strongest haha.

JC, I have found that using a discount plan is often better than insurance. We had delta dental for years and it seemed we were still paying a ton of money every time we went to the dentist (on top of a hefty monthly insurance payment). Finally I switched to Careington's discount plan and for like $25 a year we pay less for all dental visits than we ever did with dental insurance.

In your scenario however, if you have medical, you should be able to get your teeth taken care of via medical, instead of dental. I have a bit of experience with this because my wife was hit in the face with baseball about a year and a half ago and required several thousand dollars worth of dental work, which we were able to shift over to our medical insurance because it was due to a traumatic injury. The short side of the story was that we got our primary care provider to refer us out to a plastic surgeon and an oral maxilla facial surgeon, who both did the work and thus it was covered under medical (even though both of them held DDS and MD's).

Anyway, I'd be happy to help guide you through the insurance nightmare as best I can because I've done it recently and I know it's not fun and full of pitfalls. Shoot me a PM if you want my number or if I can help answer any questions.

JC, I knocked a bunch of my teeth out in accident a few years ago and my dentist worked wonders for me. Dr Thomas A Reed in Sachse.
