Default Taking a moto break for awhile

After almost 13 years, I have come to the realization Ryan needs a break from moto. Ive been an idiot and never let him do anything else. I was selfish and even tho hes always told me thats all he wanted to do was race, I should have urged him to do other things. Its caused alot of conflicts between us and we are both just a little burned out.

He is going to be starting summer workouts for football in a couple weeks, and then 2 a days after that. He has a long hard road ahead of him, but I think he will do good in it...after all he is a damn giant.

We will more than likely still be at the track here and there, and when the season is over im sure he will still want to race, but for now we both just need a break.

Any new folks that are on here just starting out, dont short change your kid, let them and encourage them to do different stuff. Kevin Plesa is a good example of that. Dakota has probably done more stuff in his short life then most people do their whole lives....

And if Stephenville makes the playoffs (they almost always do), yall will have to come see him play.

Thanks to all the people that have helped Ryan out with his racing efforts over the years, he couldnt have done it without your help!!!

    How old is Ryan?
My boy has talked about football also.
He's only 9 right now weighting in at a buck 25 or damn close...
Football may just be his calling as much as I hate to admit..

    Daddy is still gonna ride..

well this sucks... we have lost another mx'er! you say we havnt, but we have. ryan is a very tallented kid who will do well in whatever he does, good thing for yall, there is a good chance that this could pay for his college. ive seen tallented kids get into football their jr yr, and go on to play college ball. everyone wants to know where the TX racers are, ive allways said they are on the football fields.
we will miss you guys, but seriously, i hope to see ryan doing well with it.
    good luck

Glad ya'll were able to see eye to eye once you stood on that stool...

Heck, he's already in better shape from riding moto than most football players could even dream to be in, so he ought to kick some ass!

Good luck and looking forward to hearing how it goes...

As long as he is having fun, its all good. Just have fun doing whatever you do. Football is fun and a great distraction. It pulls more chicks than moto too.

You have to admit this has to be at least a little tough for you. After basically running a 1 rider race team for 13 yrs and suddenly stopping for even just a while..I would go into withdrawal and would not know what to do with myself. Not to mention having to sit in the stands with all the "normal' people while watching the football games.
Good Luck to both of yall..

Bitter sweet news brother, but sho iz understandable. My kids never had a birthday party that wasn't at a track their first 5 years of life, and therefore could take or leave MX today. Football rocks, so its not a total loss, and Rhino would make a great receiver/secondary player if he has any wheels. One thing for sure, if he lands a Division 1 ride, it won't be in the Big 12 Conference...... Keep us posted. Playing Graham next year?

I'm actually encouraged to see this. I think getting exposure to different things is a great thing. Moto is great family but until you've experienced other opportunities its difficult to see how good it can, and cant, be. That being said, Ryan is and always will be one of my favorites. Hell we finally got him to stop calling me "sir" and now this. However Hater, we wont desert ya. We'll do the lake thing and i'll hook ya up with football pics. I promise not to beach the jetski again.

There is life after moto. Sometimes, it's not so bad.

    Hang in there.
