    Good eye, sir!

Spring 2010 will definitely be a very busy time for the motocross community in west Texas.

I'll be sharing my Ponca dates for 211 very soon, as well.

Welcome to the NMA's newest district "The Big Side of Texas". Here are the semi-official dates for Ponca City qualifiers for 2010.

04-24-2010 Round 1 211 Motocross New Home, Texas
04-25-2010 Round 2 211 Motocross New Home, Texas
05-23-2010 Round 3 Dixon MX Portales, New Mexico
05-30-2010 Round 4 WTMX Midland, Texas

These dates are however subject to approval by the NMA but I see no problems.

Ponca City July 27 - 31, 2010, you can race round 4 of The TNT Night Series and then head to Ponca!

March 27-28 is a Loretta's qualifier at Cycle Ranch.
    April 3-4 is Sunbelt #1 at 211.
April 24-25 is the Loretta's qualifier at Whitney and the Ponca qualifiers at 211.

This was the best way to miss Loretta qualifier dates. You can qualify for Loretta's in March at Cycle Ranch and there are two more qualifiers in May. One in Beaumont and one in Colorado.

We moved Sunbelt #1 off the March date so that you guys could go to Cycle Ranch and not miss that LL qualifier.

Remember, you only have to race ONE Loretta's qualifier to make it.

mbelcourt, my son's first race out of our area (Houston) was a real eye opener as well. Congrats to him for coming away from the experience with a good attitude! The 85cc 12-13 is a very tough class, much less the competition that the Texas Winter Series will attract. Those north Texas boys are fast. Race them as often as you can, it WILL make him faster. What we use to do is, go get our rear handed to us, then, race locally, repeat... Not that my son is all that fast, but it sure did make a BIG difference in his finishes.

If you want to race a national event, I would suggest the season opener. It is the Spring Classic at Lake Whitney, right here in Texas. You get the National experience with less travel expense. To prepare you might consider running the whole Texas Winter Series. Whitney and Swan are two of my son's favorite tracks and they are part of the series. For us, being so far south, we will not go to Ponca unless we feel our rider can make the mains. Some classes have as many as 3 divisions competing to get into the main, it is not always easy to make it once you get there.

Good Luck and keep it fun!

Good to hear Brandon made some headway and didn't let those setbacks get him down. The Winter Series is crazy...I heard like 846 entries or something like that. Definitely the most competitive series in Texas.

Motomom makes a good point - you've got to start at the bottom of a ladder to get to the top of it. That experience Brandon got will make him a different person at a more local race. When he lines up for Sunbelt, he won't be nervous of the large gates and he will know he is the fastest rider there.
