Stack and Macey were riding today in the pasture because VCMX was closed. They got together and it resulted in a compound fracture of Macey's leg with a broken tibia and fibula. She had emergency surgery tonight at Cooks Childrens. She has an external cage on her leg and will be in the hospital for six days. Hopefully, she will heal at the exit point and will not need a skin graft due to severe soft tissue damage. Please keep my little girl in your prayers for she has a long road to recovery. Thank you.:(

I made a error in my posting, Buzz is in surgery right now to have his spine reconstructed. He had another surgery this past Monday. It is a 5 to 6 hour procedure. If you have not read the other post, Buzz is currently in ICU in Parkland Hospital in Dallas. He has had some major injuries. I talked to his dad last night and he said that some arteries had been torn from the aorta, dislocated vertabrae and he is going in surgery right now (Friday 8/13) to have a portion of his spine rebuilt. This young man needs ALL of our prayers and support. The doctors are not sure until they do the surgery about long term effect but as of now, He is paralized and has no feeling from the navel down. Keep him and his family in your prayers. I am also working on setting up a fund thru paypal to help them out, I will post more soon. Also Pray for Heidi Possin, Tanner Heemsbergen, Dillon Terry, and Justin Berry all were severly injured in dirt bike accidents.

Twisted and mangled pinky after being landed on at RV 8/5/2010

However, the X-Rays revealed 1 bad break and two other fractures in my hand located on the bone that runs from my wrist to the pinky itself. The pinky itself looked like a "Z" and was separated or whatever on both knuckles and looked pretty gnar.

Surgery today I guess went well and the doc named "Dr. Hahn" (no relation to mx), inserted 3 temporary pins to hold bones back in place and removed fragments.

Until next time, you can find me somewhere drinkin' some cold beer/margaritas until this summer heat goes away and my hand improves.

Tibial Nail Removal?

Anyone have any experience with having a tibial nail / rod being removed? I had a tib/fib fracture 5 yrs ago and they inserted a tibial nail with 2 screws on the knee and two at the ankle. Screws in the ankle were removed a few months after surgery because the bone wasn't progressing along as expected. Now it's 5 yrs later and still having quite a bit of pain at the fracture location, along with my knee. Have recently been searching on-line and found several ski forums where they were attributing similar pain to the tibial nail / screws and suggested they be removed. Pain is somewhat tolerable, but running or jumping is definitely out of the question and just walking up and down stairs causes a decent amount of pain. I'm 34 yrs old and ride for fun with the occasional race. If anyone has had this procedure done, did it help with the pain? What was the recovery time? and would you recommend it?

Thanks!
