View Full Version : Broken chains and cases

Taylor Nichols snapped a chain in the whoops Saturday night resulting in a broken left case. Problem is, he did the exact same thing in the Austin Arenacross. One bike was a 2007 Honda 250F and the other a 2008 Honda 250. Is there a problem, or just bad luck? Also, who should I contact to get a left case for the 2007?

Bad news.... you usually can't get just one side of cases. They are machined as a pair to ensure true crank revolution. Running the chain too loose can let it "whip" and de-rail. I also had a bike that ran an after-market rear chain guide and had the same result.

Good luck

Honda sells just the left side, done it many times.
