What's the hot set up for rear tires on this red loam at RV, VC , Oak Hill and Whitney. My stock Dunlop 756 worked well, but is shot after 3 races and about 5 practice sesions. A buddy of mine from CA swears by the maxxis SI for durability. Any opinions?

People are gonna have their own favorites but I'm with your
friend, I have gotten a year out of a Maxxis SI before. The more
I have rode since then I now still get about a half year out of them.
I have them on my sons 65 and been on there about a year and a half.
My 2 cents is that they are a very durable long lasting tire and I havent had any
troubles or complaints.

The best durability and best traction will be two different tires. It's hard to beat a fresh 756 but you sacrifice durability. The Michelins last much longer but they are heavy and don't hook up as well in the acceleration chop that forms on our red clay tracks. I haven't tried the Maxxis because it's also a heavy tire. I have a new Pirelli MXMH that I'm going to use for the first time next week. It's even lighter than the 756 and I've heard good things about it so I wanted to give it a shot.

The best way to go is have a second wheel so you can have race rubber and practice rubber. Tires are expensive so that way you can conserve your good tire and not wear it out just practicing.

nothing will beat traction of a dunlop or bridgestone but they also wear the quickest, if you want longevity go with a micheiln or pirelli they both last long but dont hook up near as good.... my 2 cents

If you are still getting 756 tires, then you are getting 3 year old tires. They stopped making them....

and why does almost every post you make end with try Rocky Mountain MC... do you work there? and how many more 3 year old threads are you going to bring back to life

Those sites are going to be the death of the local shop. Please realize, when you save a few bucks you are hurting the guys who will be there for you when you call up and say "my bike is making a funny noise......". Try calling Rocky or Motosport and asking a question like that!

I am in no way affiliated with any shop but I hate what these on-line WalMart's of moto are doing to them! Support your local shop!!!!
