So Im on my way to Village last night and I had just picked up my daughter from the bus stop and turned down the next side street when I see a pickup coming from my left that doesnt appear to be slowing down. I hit the brakes and try to turn into the yard im at, well i was about 8 inches short of getting stopped.

She hit the bumper from the left which in turn crushed into the frame, which then shoved the whole front end over about an in inch or so. So now my steering wheel is about a half a turn off the fan is rubbing the shroud and im pissed off!!!

The stop sign that she was supposed to have was stolen, pole and all, so I dont know who is paying for this. Her or the city??

I went to get my camera to take pictures and when I get back the sign is there,Lawdog help me out here who is liable

Are you saying the sign wasn't there last night and then all of a sudden a sign was there today? Did you get a police report? Did said police report say anything about a missing stop sign? I would not be surprised if someone was called to put that there immediately if so. But then again, if there was a missing stop sign that should have been there it would seem the city would be liable. Sorry, this really sucks. I had some witch hit me in my Jetta, her fault, liability only and I ended up having to eat it. SUCKOLA!

If the sign is back, get her insurance co. to fix the truck. Let them battle it out with the city.

It was good to see the 451 out last night, at least your priorities are straight even if your truck isn't.

Main thing Hater, is you guys are alright.

Sounds like you will be able to get it worked out. I always look at it this way. Thats why we pay for insurance, right? My wife was in a wreck about 2 months ago (her fault). I told the woman she hit at the scence. "You get yourself taken care of however you need to, this is why we pay to have insurance and this is what it is for." There were 2 cops filling out papers that stopped, they both looked at me, and one said "amen".

P.S. Good looking Blue Oval on the front of that truck....................

Was their a police report? Whatever the cop said will play heavily into what the outcome is.

With that said, it is up to the driver of both vehicle to be aware of your surroundings, especially in an unmarked intersection. If you are declared to have the right of way, she is at fault.

Even if you can prove the sign was or wasn't there, I personally don't think will factor into the outcome, as the city wasn't negligent.

Sucks man...hopefully her insurance pays. Sounds like she was at fault.

Ya there was a police report, im supposed to pick it up today. I asked the cop who was at fault he shrugged his shoulders and said, well there is a sign directly opposite of her so there should be one on her side.

he didnt write her a ticket tho

And your right Zero people should be aware of there surroundings, if I had not been paying attention and just presumed she was gonna stop she probably would have hit my door and I woulda probably been pretty F ed up

if they didn't write her a ticket, your collision coverage is probably going to get tapped. you can call her insurance company, but they'll say some shit like "you hit each other. it's neither party's exclusive responsibility. call your own insurance." which you will do, then they will up your rate and go after the other insurance company themselves. they might get some money back....but you won't.

insurance is a catch-22.

There's only one law that I give a shit about when I see a 1 ton dually at an intersection. That is the law of greater mass wins the crash.

I give the big boys the right of way, even when they are in the wrong up here in horse country, even when I am in my 1/2 ton.

Glad you and your daughter were not hurt.

300, aren't you from Stephenville? If so, there's a pretty good chance they were both in Dually's! I've never seen so many Cowboy Cady's anywhere! I counted 15 one day at the Hard 8. - True story. I guess that fits considering Sville's the Cowboy Capital of the World.

I'm glad you guys are OK.
