Paradise Mike texted me earlier, Justin Earnest (jearnest/mx527/Central Yamaha Parts Guy/all around good dude) went down hard at River Valley this morning. Had to be transported via ambulance and has been in surgery. That's about all I have so far. I know he just got back into big bikes on a YZ125 he had been building.
I'll post more details as I get them, but please keep Justin and Kaila in your thoughts!

Justin is at Harris in Ft. Worth... crushed his L-1, fractured his T-12, neurosurgeon has had him in surgery for about 2 hrs now... with a couple hours left to go. Justin has no feeling in his pelvic area, but can slightly move his toes.
As MX154 said... Justin is an all-around good guy... in fact, one of the very BEST & NICEST in the MOTO SCENE....always smiling and always willing to help anyone!

Justin is out of surgery.
Surgeon was very confident on his repairs.
T11-L2 has hardware to hold together. The spinal membrane was damaged along with a few nerves. He sewed it up and removed damaged nerves.
He will be here for approx 5 days.
We will see him in a few min.
No paralysis.
Dr would like to see him sit up and start walking as soon as he can tolerate the pain.
Justin will have a long recovery please keep him in your prayers.

Horrible news, Justin is the best local parts guy that I have dealt with and just an overall good dude. Sounds like 100% recovery which is great to hear.

I was wondering who that was, and how they were doing. I just caught the end of his crash, and it looked pretty nasty.
Prayers sent to you for a speedy recovery, Justin.

This was taken from his Facebook page. Sounds like he is mobile but in a lot of pain.
Update on Justin.
Last night was not the best night he's had, but not the worst night either. nerve regeneration/sensations were pretty unbearable while trying to sleep. This led me to the realization that this is definitely a mind, body & spirit trial. If one of the 3 are out of sync it effects all 3. The Dr prescribed neurontin for the nerve pain. Hopefully that kicks in soon so he can get rest....
Today was a full day of therapy! The morning started off with getting dressed (mostly on his own, but since he can't bend down he can't get his socks/shoes on.
Then we were off to his Recreational Therapy appt where he played Wii while standing with his walker, eventually letting go with both hands for short periods of time. Next was Pt, where he did some stretching & walking, then OT for upper body strength, followed by a 2 hour lunch break. Back down to therapy he went for 30" of PT, 30" of OT, then 30" of stretching. Justin is definitely physically tired from his full day! Hopefully he gets a good nights rest! Another highlight of the day-we got our private room! — with Justin Earnest (http://www.facebook.com/justin.earnest.58).

Fresh update:
Update on Justin.
Justin's morning started with a stretching session. After the surgery he's noticed really tight back & hamstring muscles. His pt sessions consisted of walking with the cane, tried to do calf raises (has to use upper body as he has no nerve sensation to calf muscle to lift body weight), side steps, squats, & caught & threw a ball (all with assistance of therapists hands for balanc...e). He also got on all fours for the first time & did hamstring curls, then laid on his belly! He was very excited about this because it's been over 2 weeks since he's done so! Today was also his first day for Aquatics therapy. He did leg exercises in the pool & was amazed at the increased range of motion & decreased tingling & pain. Let's hope for aquatics everyday! :) — with Justin Earnest (http://www.facebook.com/justin.earnest.58).

Great updates, Raymond. You nailed it on the head... Justin is a great dude! One of the friendliest guys anyone could ever hope to know.
I spoke with Justin yesterday, and he is in great spirits. He is excited about his progress, for sure. We are hoping he can make it to VC Sat night for an hour or two, to get out of the house and watch some racing.
