My son is going to be racing in the Main Event Series beginning in August. Just wanted to know....do i need to get him an AMA membership to race at local events? Do i just show up, pay registration fees and hope for the best? He is only 9yrs old and he has the bug to go racing against other kids. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!:)

The Main Event Series should be AMA Sanctioned (it has been in the past). Some local tracks require AMA LICENSE, and some do not. It's best if you go ahead and get one so you are covered at the many races/tracks that do require it. You should be able to purchase your AMA membership at the race, or you can get it online at http://www.americanmotorcyclist.com/

The Main Event Series is put on by Larry Hughes... it's a top notch series and top notch guy (Larry). You guys should have a blast hitting that series. GOOD LUCK to your little one!

That sounds good, probably the smart thing to do. Thanks for the heads up!
