hey i was wondering if this looked bad. can this affect the performance of my bike? a piece of metal fell on the piston and nicked the head right there.

Na man you are good to go fa sho. I once rode a bike with half the piston sitting at the bottom of the cases and the other half still pounding away in the cylinder. Just keep it pinned until it STANKS!!!

looks like the valve guide is broke off also.. thats most likely what damaged the head

If you dont replace the guide the valve will move in directions it shouldnt and do more damage, but the big dent doesnt appear to be into the gasket area or in the valveseat area, but looks like the seat is damaged where the broken guide came through.. So i would say at least that valve is bent. If that is a 09 kawi head i would replace all the guides because the rest arent far behind the one thats broken now..

and if you have a matching dent on the top of your piston your crank rod could be bent as well.

If that big dent has any sharp edges it can cause hot spots which will cause pre-ignition. Hit it with some emery cloth to knock the edges off.

You need to check your rod, check crank runout and replace the valve guide.
