My friend Brent Sweet needs your prayers please. I was racing with him today at Spring Valley and he went down hard and had to be flown out. He has a spinal cord injury along with broke ribs and a collapsed lung. Please pray for not only the mighty hand of God on Brent's injuries, but also strength for his family in this great time of need.

Blessings,

He had surgery last night for internal bleeding and is currently located at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Brent was at our Church service yesterday morning as the Lord led me to deliver words on never giving up and always trusting that “With God nothing will be impossible.” Luke 1:37. Even when our nets are empty and our hearts are weary, we should turn to Him and trust in the unbelievable. As I spoke of such yesterday, I used several analogies that God can and does surprise us.

Thank you for joining us in prayer guys and don't forget that “impossible” is one of God’s favorite words.

Lots of good folks have stepped up and are helping the family with many things. As of right now, they are holding off on the spinal surgery that was scheduled today and getting more opinions. His records are being reviewed by a surgeon in Lubbock and other options have been null because he cannto fly due to other critical injuries he's dealing with, such as the punctured lung that required surgery and had to be sewed up. His status this morning with the Hospital is still shown as critical. God is awesome and your prayers are being heard and the family is certainly in awe of them and the many favors and good deeds being done by many. At this time I have nothing to ask for on their behalf other than continued prayer - so thank you for such.

I dont like checking this part of the site but I need to more often. There are people with real problems and injuries here that need prayers and help. I am defiantly praying for Brent, family and friends. Terrible news, but God takes care of his children. Praying for him.

06/17 Dropped in today for a short visit with Brent's wife and parents and he shows good signs of improved stability. He may get a room by this evening and be out of CCU. They are working on an upper body cast for extra stabilization and continue to bring him out of the twilight zone. He is aware of his condition and talked to his wife some today. He even had a little humor today but naturally has much emotion to deal with considering what he's been dealt.

His mother told him that his crash could have been much worse and I too agree. It's sometimes hard to see Blessing in the midst of tragedy but lets all remember that God is in the business of mkaing Blessing out of tragedy and even though I already see Blessings as his mother does, I'm still praying for more miracles in his improvement.

Blessings for the prayers,

Welcome Bobby. On another note - sounds like you guys are having some "other" fun for a while. Your a good guy Bobby so don't feel like you short changed your kid. You've provided him a safe haven for years away from what ruins lots of kids and regardless of how you may be feeling, it's been a great investment in his life and yall's well being. Just saying.... :)

Fastlane,
Keep us up to date. I grew up with Brent here in Iowa. We were close friends since the 5th grade. Brent is a Strong guy (mentally and physically) so I'm sure he will recover. Tell him Jeremy and all his friends from Solon are praying for him. I wish there was more I could do to help.

Bryan I know all about miracles because I went through that wreck at VC. I had a page full of injuries along with punctured lung broken pelvis. I had a customer yesterday could not believe that I had been through that and still riding and working out in the gym. He said after that he figured I would be walking with a limp. My prayers are with him because I know exactly how he feels laying there in the hospital. Isaiah 53:5

Thanks yall for the continued prayers and words. I am getting the messages to him and am finding out real quick that Brent made a good impression on lots of people through the years. I got to visit with Brent for just a moment over the weekend and his attitude is such an inspiration. In fact, the attitude of his entire family is so uplifting to me. And his wife Lori is so strong, as is Brent. Anyway, in my visit I noted immediately that he is still in a tremendous amount of pain. He is looking forward to getting out of ICU so he can get some rest and advises not to break ribs, especially 8 at the same time. Considering the extent of his injuries I was very surprised he felt like visiting for a few minutes, but he did and seems up for the challenge he and his family now face.

Blessings,

Went to visit Brent and he is doing great. His wife Lori and parents had just come out of his room so I got to visit with each of them for a moment as well. They too are looking great and all seem to be up for the challenges they’re enduring and the ones yet to come. More importantly though, Brent seems to be ready to move forward and get out of that stinking hospital bed. He is thinking that today he will be transferred across the street to the rehab facility, which he seems very excited about. His wife seemed excited too because I think there is better accommodations for her being by his side. I told Brent that many many folks are praying for his full recovery. He made a statement about that he was not giving up on his legs and would work as hard as he could to make them work again. I reminded him that the Lord is all about impossible and that sometimes doctors unintentionally take away some of our hope. I don’t think he needed to hear that but I told him we were all praying for favor on his full and complete recovery.

Thanks and God Bless,

I met Brent at Clyde sitting on the starting gate he joked about how he was a little rusty and I told him it was my first time at the gate in 19 years, talk about rusty. He said man just take it easy and have fun and I did. In just the few min we had to visit during the day I could tell he was a good guy and I was/am looking forward to seeing around the track. Brent we continue to pray for you ,your family and your full recovery. Keith King

Brent text'd me tonight and says he is making good headway. He is in a therapy unit now and I feel bad that I have not been able to see him in a few days. Word on the street is that he said he WILL walk again. I love that....must be a hard headed racer. :) Blessings to all that continue to pray for favor for him.

07/02 Visited Brent yesterday. He now has a blood clot in in his leg. This along with his broke ribs have ceased his rehab for the time being. Please continue to pray for him. He looks great and the Lord is Blessing him with many things to help overshadow the bad things. He says he appreciates your prayers.

Just talked with him and he sounds great. Says his issues, such as blood, are improving and all his numbers are looking good. He is supposed to get some estimates tomorrow on renovations to his house and is looking forward to getting this moving so he can go home. Thanks so much for prayers for him and his family.
