I thing the counter sproket shaft seal is leaking. Is this common and how hard is it to replace. Please any help is greatly appreciated.

its probably not the seal, its more than likely the oring that seals the sleeve that slides over the splines

So does it pull right out. Will it hurt the seal

You have to remove the countershaft sprocket and the collar to get to the orings, and that collar can be a pain in the ass to get out. And no you dont need to remove the seal

Thanks. I got all of that off I tried giving it a pull and it doesnt seem to want to come out to easy. I will work on it tomorrow. Have you had a problem like this?

Okay got it out. Does the oring stay inside on the shaft because it didnt come of with the collar. The only thing that came out was oil.

yes the orings will stay in there, use a pick and just pull it out

Put some grease on the o-ring when you put it on I had to replace the one on my KX250 when I had it and the grease definitely helped.

Make sure and impact the sprocket nut and bend the tab over on the washer...or the nut will back off and do bad things to you and your bike...

I torqued my sprocket nut then bent the tabs over.

not trying to jack your thread motocop, but iracekx, did you ever get the "fuel flow problem" fixed....i saw pages and pages on here and thumpertalk of people guessing what was wrong, what happened?

Make sure you put the sprocket on first before the nut.

It ended up being the stator after all this time. In the process it got a new top end used CDI box and a new stator. It now runs like a new bike after all that. I am so glad it is fixed now I can enjoy riding again thanks for asking.
